Scotland, my last week in exchange!

Day 42

Time to go back to Edinburgh (again)!

I arrived to Edinburgh's Haymarket station on afternoon, and walked to my hostel which was quite near.

My hostel
My room
I really liked this hostel, because all the cool attractions of Edinburgh were so close!

On the evening I decided to go for a little walk in the city.

I walked on the Princess Street garden which is next to the Edinburgh castle!

The Princess Street garden was really pretty! And there was perfect view to the Edinburgh castle!

Day 43

I desided to go for a walk to Royal Mile and tried to find some souvenirs for my family.

On the way back to hostel I stopped to watch some folk dance show on the Grassmarket!

Day 44

On the morning I woke up when it was thundering outside.

After eating some breakfast I met one of my host families daughter, who lived in Edinburgh.
We went for a walk and walked in Grassmarket, and stopped to eat in "The Elephant House", where J.K.Rowling has been writing Harry Potter books!

(In this cafe's toilets, all the walls were covered to writings like "I love Harry Potter" and etc. because all the Harry Potter fans have been writing messages for J.K.Rowling in the toilet 8'D )

After meeting up with this girl from one of my host families I decided to visit in the National Museum of Scotland.
I didn't know when the place is closing, so I had to leave after being there only one hour.
But there's time to come back again!

I stopped to watch this street show on the Royal Mile

Day 45

Time to go back to National Museum of Scotland!

The museum was awesome! And the best thing: there was a free entry!!! Like what?!?

Wax creatures

Bone ball
The skeleton of an ancient deer/moose!
The National Museum of Scotland from inside!
T-Rex!!
The room full of stuffed animals and animal skeletons!!

Japanese house
Samurai outfit

After walking around in the museum I decided to visit on Clayton Hill.
On the way to the hill I stopped to watch (again) a street show on Royal Mile.

This dude was a comic and damn funny! I laughed so much 8'D
Finally I came to Clayton Hill and had a lunch break there!

This tower was on the top of the Clayton Hill!

Views from the Clayton Hill to the city of Edinburgh!

Day 46

I met again this same girl from one of my host families.
We desided to go and check "The Edinburgh Dungeons".
The Edinburgh Dungeons is like a mix of ghost house and ghost train in an amusement park.
You have to walk a certain route, and there was a live actors acting and telling about the dark history of Scotland!
It was so cool and also damn scary sometimes :<

Going to the Edinburgh Dungeons was a perfect ending for my Scotland exchange!

Day 47

It's time to finally return in Finland.

I really miss Scotland, and I will definitely go back there!

Scotland <3

Bye bye Scotland! ;A;

So, shortly something about my Scotland exchange:

- I did have 9 different host families in total during my exchange! That's quite a lot : O
- My host families lived in Ayshire, Campbelltown, Loch Lomond, Aberdeenshire and Dundee. I did spend my last week in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland.
- I got lots of new friends, which I want to see again soon!

- Did I have fun and great time in Scotland?   YES!
- Would you like to go there again?   YES!

Thank you for reading my diary during my 4H IFYE exchange in Scotland!!

The language in my blog will be now again in Finnish, sometimes also in English!

I hope that this "traveling diary" made also you want to go to Scotland, because this country is absolutely beautiful and it deserves more attention and love!

Scotland, days 39, 40 & 41

Day 39

Time to move to my last host family on my Scotland exchange!

My new host family did have a sheep farm, and my dream came true when we were feeding super cute tiny lambs!!! *u*

Ahahaha, they are so cute~ I named one as Nina, but I think that it already did have a name ;u;
Oh, I just love tiny lambs, they are cute and soft and...
When we went to feed the lambs they like attacked us when they noticed that we have food QuQ (There was lambs everywhere around me!)

On the afternoon we went to see area where lives beavers. Well, we didn't see any beavers, but we saw some trees what they have been cutting down.

Day 40

We went for shopping to one town quite near my host family's house, and after that we went to see the Queen's view!

Well, have to say that it really was a Queen's view..
I would have wanted to see this place on the evening in a pretty sunset, because I think that Queen's view would be then really stunning! : O

On the way back home we saw some Highland cows and stopped to takes some pictures of them :3

Highland cows are quite cute because they have so nice long fur and cool horns!

Day 41

My final day in a host family before spending a week alone in Edinburgh!

On my last day we went to St. Andrew's city and visited in an aquarium!

Turtle!
Seals!
Hhahaa, that tiny creature from Disney's "The Lion King" movie! 8D
We found Nemo!
Beach in the St. Andrew's

On the evening we participated on Young Farmer's 75 years "birthday" party. There was lots of dancing, and awesome barbeque food!

The place where the birthday party was
And the awesome birthday cake!
My last day in a host family on my Scotland exchange was great!

Now I'm going to spend my last week in Edinburgh.... Alone!
Let's see how I survived from that ;D

Scotland, day 38

My host family's friend came to pick me and the other exchangee with him.
We drove back to area of Aberdeen (Aberdeenshire).
He showed us what he does when his at work. (He's working in forestry industry)

Here was an area where they are planting heathers
After visiting on the "heather hills", we visited in Braemar castle! The castle was quite small in fact, but there was a really high tower, where the all rooms were.
And finally it was allowed to take pictures inside the castle!!

Random people, ignore them.
There was a cute "cat" sleeping in front of the fireplace.
The national "flower" of Scotland

The man who take us to the castle decided to take us also see the same "secret cave" place where I had already been when I was in Aberdeenshire.

On the way to the cave, we stopped to see this absolutely beautiful view!

If the photo would be bigger you could almost see the Braemar castle there!
Finally we arrived to secret cave place.
In fact it was nice to go there again, because the cave was just so cool, and we also saw a snake on the road when we were walking to the cave!

The snake was quite tiny. I'm not sure that was it poisonous or not..?

On the evening we went to feed some ducks! :D

There were so many ducks! And that swan was so scary when she came closer to catch some bread what we were throwing to the tiny ducks!

Scotland, days 36 & 37

Day 36

The Glamis castle.

We spend whole day walking around  the area of the castle, and we also went on tour inside the castle.

Glamis castle was just like the Hogwarts from Harry Potter books!! OAO
We used secret doors to enter in the next room and.... It was too cool!!
(...But again, it was not allowed to take pictures... Why?!?!? ;n; )

The garden of Glamis castle was also so pretty!
There was also Highland cows on the fields (Highland cows are cute!)

Glamis castle from the garden

Some pretty flowers from the garden

Day 37

And again, time to move to next host family.
(The week in Dundee will be busy because I will have three different host families!)

My new host family took me to national park where we watched birds and seals with binoculars (that was fun!)

On the way to their home we also stopped on the berry farm. On the farm they gave us baskets and we were allowed to pick as many strawberries (and other berries) as we just could make fit to the basket!! : D

My new host family is growing pheasants, and they also did have horses : D
