Scotland, days 14 and 15

Day 14

After the last day of the Royal Highland show, it was time to move to next host family. my next host family was in Campbeltown, on the west coast of Scotland.

We stopped to eat on tiny town near by lake, on the way to Campeltown.

"My" new room.

Day 15

My host family's son took me to his uncles farm.

I helped them on sheep sheearing X'D
Oh God, it was much harder than it did look. I sheared only one sheep, but I think that it was better, because the sheep looked horrible after shearing... n__n''

Also helped them to milk cows : )

Some already sheared sheep.

After working on the farm, we went to see a lighthouse on the coast.
Going to the lighthouse was easy, we just have to walk down a hill, but coming back was a different thing... -3-

But I don't regret going there, the views were awesome! We could also see the Northern Ireland from the lighthouse! 8O
(I thought that Northern Ireland is more far away from Scotland but it's not..)

We had to go quite long way down to lighthouse.

Traditional scottish rock walls.

On the right you can somehow see the Northern Ireland!

On the evening we did have a sports evening with other Young Farmers of Campeltown.
We played soccer and baseball. It was so fun, because after while we started to play with our "own" rules X'D

Oh, I laughed so much that my stomach was hurting :')

Scotland, days 10, 11, 12 and 13

Day 10

Time to go back to Edinburgh for the Royal Highland Show!

But before the show, we climped with other exhangee to Arthur's seat hill in the centre of Edinburgh. Great views!

Almost in the middle you can see the Edinburgh castle.

Days 11, 12 and 13

Time to see the Royal Highland Show, which is, if someone didn't know, a huge agricultural show.

And I relly mean the HUGE.

It did took hours to walk around the area where the show was held.

In the show you can go and see lots of different cow and sheep breeds. There was also horse shows, bagpipe orchestra was playing there... They also did have a big food market, where they were giving samples of different food products (Cheese, milk, beef, strawberries, chocolate... Everything!)

So many people!

The food market. Random people, just ingnore them.

Omnonomonom, look what I found!

All the exchangees were invited to celebrate Scotland's Young Farmers 75th birthday year.
In the tiny party, we heard some bagpipe playing, and we ate also good food :3

I also met two scottish women, who have been in Finland as exhangees. It was fun to listen what they thought about Finland.

There were not just animals and other agricultural stuff in the show. I really wanted to try this thing, but I was too tall for it :'<

Horse and it's rider waiting their turn on the competition. The horse was so big!

From another horse competition

A hawk trainer.

There was also cake making competition for the Scottish Young Farmers.
Because Young Farmers organization was having 75th birthday, the topic of competition was to make birthday cake for Young Farmers organization.

And look at these cakes!! : O

Most of the teams also wanted to decorate the table around the cake.

A piano cake.

A tea party cake.

These things on the cake were so tiny!

I really enjoyed the Royal Highland show. Weather was nice (it rained only on Saturday. We heard that last year it was raining all the time and there was mud everywhere!).

Every evening there was also dj playing music in a huge tent. I danced so much that my feet were hurting on next day XD

Scotland, day 9

We went to tiny island.

We hired bikes, and cycled around the island. It was really fun, and the weather was perfect for cycling.

Nice views
I saw some pretty flowers during the cycling trip

After cycling we spend some time in Millport, which is a tiny town on the island where we were.

The harbour of Millport

On the evening, I tasted some very traditional Scottish food, haggis : D

And....

... In fact, it was really good, even I already knew what's inside the haggis XD

Haggis tasted like a mixing of Finnish black sausage and liver casserole.
Probably sounds really untasty but it was good, really :'D

Scotland, days 7 and 8

Day 7

We spend the whole day in stock judging (phhhw, really difficult word to write XD )

If someone don't know what stock judging means, it's a contest where you try to find (or quess, like I did) the best cow or sheep from the group of animals. I haven't never done stock judging before, and it was really hard : /

We had to find the best cow from these three cows.

But I did well in the contest, I didn't get the last place, I was the second last X''D
Oh well...

I also managed to burn my face in sun during the day.

Yes.
I burned my face.
In Scotland.

.... I think that Scotland should change it's name to Spain this year...

Day 8

We went to see a bee farm. The bee farmer gave us a presentation about bees, and showed us an empty beehive. Too bad, I wanted to see a real beehive from inside : <

After the bee farm visit we went to eat some ice cream on the beach.

On the evening I went to watch when my host family's son moved some calfs to new field.

Yay, freedom!
